The work-family interaction and the impact on woman's life

Abstract

The present study examined the impact of the double working day in the woman’s life. For this purpose, it was developed by means of a survey, having as participants women are aged thirty years old and older and who held different positions in a public higher education organization. Sociodemographic questions were applied, to a fuller understanding the profile of participants, and to assess the relationship between work and family, a scale developed by Netemeyer & cols (1996) and a structured interview developed by Vicente (2018) was applied. The results indicated conflict to reconcile the work activities with the family dynamics. For instance, affecting the motherwood for generating concern when the women perform their professional roles and reducing time allocated to their children. Thus, it is considered that, based on these results, it is possible developing strategies to mitigate such conflicts and, consequently, to improve the quality of work and life of these women.
